First, I wish to observe a minute of silence for ongoing Genocides and crises. O how I weep with you…
I work for a human rights organization and today I was given the opportunity to speak on Genocide and Generational Trauma. I praised those who over the years have invested in the Great Lakes region and dedicated their lives to the alleviation of human suffering worldwide. We spoke of epigenetics, social responsibility, equity in policy, historical amnesia etc.
It is a recorded, undisputed fact that the world failed Rwanda in 1994.The superpowers were laser focused on the Balkan crisis/ Yugoslav wars to notice Rwanda. Those causalities ended up being close to 100,000; almost a tenth of the victims in Rwanda. The anti-blackness is a sort of fat purple elephant with glitter, that is very difficult to ignore.
“Anti-Blackness is defined as behaviors that devalue, minimize, and marginalize the full participation of Black people; it is the systematic denial of Black humanity and dignity. The Anti-Blackness paradigm positions Blackness as inherently problematic, rather than acknowledging that Black communities have been severely disadvantaged. -BU“
Until tomorrow, when speak again, by God’s grace.
With my Purest Love,
Liv
