6 of 54: Chad or Tchad?

(Fun Fact. It is “Chad” for English speakers and “Tchad” for french speakers.)—-We have heard this story before. Despite the nation being rich in oil, it is constantly ranked as top 5 poorest nations on Earth.

Ever heard of NTD? Neglected Tropical Diseases are diseases that colloquially put, kill the blacks & browns so nobody cares. One such NTD is Guinea Worm. Six years before I was born, in 1986, the organization for which I work, started the campaign to eradicate this disease. At the time 3.5 million people in Africa and Asia had been infected. Today, 38 years later, there are only 14 cases reported in Central Africa, namely Chad.This will be the second disease in human history to be eradicated (after small pox). And to say I have contributed would not be an utter lie. Because, hey, I was there! Yalla!
