Met the coolest Rasta today. My shoes had this metal thing that kept hurting my feet. (I did get them for $16 from Shein.) The Rasta noticed and said he was an arts and craft vendor & had some Masai sandals he could let me borrow ‘till I finished my errands in the mall. Now, that is humanity. Right before that, I was on a solo date in a restaurant and there was an Eritrean family visiting Kigali. Their little girl came to sit with me. In the African context, a child is everyone’s child. So neither I nor her parents were bothered. She stayed with me, and I ended up playing her Barbie on Youtube. Now, that is humanity.
I don’t seek to glamorize Africa at all. Very many annoying things here. Like the the fact that a woman doesn’t get respect unless she is spoken for (married). But I like how “I am because you are!”
Nevertheless; hugs to everyone in Atl, except Prof. Because how is he not flying right now to Kigali to hug me Good Night? All because of small 7,683 miles, 1 Ocean, 17 hours flight? How unserious….
XOXO
