Amahanga (Engl.)

Brethren, If only you knew what the “abroad” they threaten you with truly looks like, you’d pity us. Allow me to share some insights:

• First they despise us because we are apparently too black as if they arent too white.
• Then, the cold here penetrates and reaches even your internal organs. Some walk around with bed wear (blanket). So dear, you tell me, how is one meant to shiver and answer a whatsapp text at the same time?
• I will not lie to you, there is money here. But often times what goes out surpasses what comes in. Imagine paying 1.5Mil RWF for a small room and kitchen. No garden, nothing.
• Don’t get me started on the food situation. It’s super fattening but not nutritious enough. They even fabricate meat now. Also, dogs here are pretty precious, they have designated salons for them. Imagine seeing a dog that has a cuter pedicure than you. It’s a bit mad. (Sofie, do forgive our shock).
• We do have one thing better than you. Our pastors understand the meaning of summary, human attention span, etc.

We are grateful for the opportunity to come and amass these riches. Next time though, don’t let anyone intimidate you, it ain’t all that. XOXO
