NDABAGA

Though I schooled in Rwanda until I was 16, I never studied Rwandan history in school. I did, however, learn all about greek mythology and the Sun King of France (Louis XIV). Ladies and Gents: TA-DA, colonization. In all fairness, I attended a small Belgian school. But Still! Somebody needs to hire me to draft a law stating that if an international school is to operate on African soil, they MUST adapt the curriculum to the nation in which they are in.

Luckily: Sandrine, dad & google! Ever heard of Ndabaga? Super cool Rwandan heroine who in the 18th century went to battle disguised a man in order to spare her father. In the end, she excels at battle, but her ruse is uncovered. She is however kept safe as the King takes notice of her, marries her and changes the law.

Lastly, Is it me or does this story exist in every African folktale?
