PRESIDENT CARTER IS 100

What an Iconic Night! It is 1am, I just returned from the historic Fox Theatre’s Grand Concert to celebrate the 100th Birthday of native Georgian, President Jimmy Carter. Who even lives to 100? Mindblown…

We heard wishes from 4 of the 5 living Presidents. Biden, Barack, Bush, and Clinton. (Trump being the absent one, surprise suprise…) We heard from Dr. Reverend Bernice King, MLK’s daughter. Notable dignitaries in the audience included former Ambassador Andrew Young. President Carter was known as the Rock ‘n’ Roll President so we experienced some of his favorite music: Rock, Country, Gospel, Rap and get this, even Mama Africa, Angelique Kidjo performed! President Carter believes that one of the things that has held the American people together has been the music we share and love. Doesn’t hurt that the man has EXCELLENT taste in music.

Colleagues and I sat and cried tears of joy from the tributes while also watching our Boss dance the night away to what seemed to be her favorite band. Then as we exited, an HR off the clock staff jokingly said, make sure y’all show up to work tomorrow. We all nervously fake-laughed in unison.

Three words rang true all night; humanity, integrity, service. Working at The Carter Center remains the highest honor of my life!

Happy Birthday Mr. President.
