In our usual literary “Tour D’Afrique” we now arrive in Equatorial Guinea. I could speak of the nation’s landscape, culture and arts. But I am a servant of the people and the people want to hear of Balthazar, the unofficial sex czar.
The very married man was busy de-frauding the nation he forgot to keep his files encrypted. What files you may ask? 400 sex tapes were seized from his computer when the police investigated him for financial crimes. More shokingky were the involved actors. The tapes had for participants (1) His brother’s wife, (2) A pregnant woman (3) The Wife of Head of Police, (4) Wives of 20 Ministers, and perhaps most notably (5) The President’s sister. Etc.
First I was in shock. Then I was in utter shock. I did quickly feel bad as this is a clear case of invasion of privacy since he did not authorize the distribution of such tapes. But I remembered a man/woman must be ready to reap what he sowed. Beyond that though, this leads us to a very relevant issue of African society: The Unchecked Promiscuity of African Men. We have allowed our men to behave as animals in heat. Promiscuity is not an African trait. However, African men rarely suffer any consequence for their misbehaving. The African woman is encouraged by society to forgive, forget, accept. Etc. Gentlemen, you wish for nobody to comment on your promiscuity. Fine. Just note, your fellow adulterers will come for YOUR WIFE next.
As far as I’m concerned, the day my man will dare mount the entire city as though mounting Kilimanjaro, will be the day I will dismiss him. The time has come to stop tolerating the intolerable. A toast to the emancipation of the African Woman!
PS: I am not concerned with an woman’s choice to forgive, that is a person’s prerogative. What I stand against is society condoning the immoral acts of African men.
