This may come as a shock but truth is, I long had no standards with men. My mind truly lived in a cartoon-like state. I found it so unfair that one would reject a suitor based on education level, money, looks, etc. For me it was always about, “do we vibe and am I bored?” I mean, I did have ONE standard, I would have never entertained a man convicted of murder. Accused but acquitted? Well… Wasn’t Mandela Madiba deemed a terrorist… Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had some respectable & honorable lovers but there were more due to happenstance not strategy. After attracting a suspicioulsly high number of strange characters, I’ve concluded that, the rest of the world was right, and one does need standards.
Since then, the quality of my suitors has dramatically increased. A week ago, I met a man in a professional setting (not in my workplace). He is super respected in his field and has reached the pinnacle of his career. Put it this way, the man has a Wikipedia page. He asked to take me to dinner and I can’t lie I was flattered. I did end up graciously rejecting his invitation because of the large age gap. But as I pondered on my evolution as a woman, I realized, I must be giving boss energy lately as I don’t work for men anymore, they work for me (*wink, wink*).
Welcome to my Renaissance.
