TO MARRY WHITE

Kamala Harris -Married White. Serena Williams- Married White. Venus Williams – Married White. Meghan Markle – Married White. E.V.E. – Married White. Jay Ellis (Guy From Insecure) – Married White. & Don’t get me started on Black Athletes.

One of my favorite couples of all time is actually an Interracial Couple: Rwando-Canadian Musician Corneille and his Wife, Sofia. I have a particular affinity for him because he is said to have attended my High School in Rwanda(Ecole Belge). Alleged selling point, hard to verify the info. He is the sole survivor of his family, that was unfortunately massacred in the 1994 Genocide against Tutsis ( إِنَّا لِلَّٰهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ –Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’u— To God we belong and to Him we return) Plus, he is a true artist who is not interested in fame or fortune. His wife, Sofia, is a beauty queen with a super humble personality. Corneille said of his wife that she saved him. They have been married 19 years. Zero scandal. Zero weirdness. Just mutual respect & cute kids.

So Understand it when I say, When two souls fall in love and happen to not share a skin color, we thank God! BUTTTT you must agree with me that something is to be said about the (perceived) intersectionality of success/power & marrying white. Many black people seem to think that marrying white elevates their socio-econimic status… First, it’s not true but even if it was, the idea should nauseates us. It is such an insult to self. Such a betrayal to your clan. Can we agree to leave these strange behaviors in 2024? I beg. Ok, thanks.
