While others are celebrating (or at the very least, pretending to celebrate) Women’s Month, Nigerian President of the Senate, had the AUDACITY to suspend Senator Natasha from her ELECTED seat after she made sexual harrassment claims against him.
Effectively being the “juge, juré, bourreau” (judge, jury, & executioner). Because how TF you’re going to adjudicate your own (alleged) crime? He picked the wrong era though. Oopsie…
(Quick parenthesis, African male lawmakers, WAWU… Us, Lawmakers in America (speaking my ambitions into reality) – are everyday citizens/ public servants. Recall, the young lawmaker from Atlanta I recently met, who addressed his constituents with a music video rap? Simple life. But, God Forbid lawmakers in Africa breathe the same air as “commoners”… As for the sunglasses during session, please disregard, it appears to be super commonplace, I have seen it with both Nigerian men and women in Senate. Repeat after me, “We Listen, We don’t Judge”)

Of course, a big chunk of the backward-thinking African public is in mode “who does she think she is, bla bla”…. Truth that stats have shown is women in the workforce undergo an INCREDIBLE level of harrassment and retaliation. So I am SUPER pleased Senator Natasha is not letting up! Yesterday, she submitted her case at a UN Inter-Parliamentary Union Meeting in New York. Let us see how many business days it takes to kill misogyny!
