The Naira has not only depreciated it has entirely collapsed. I knew it was bad when I found out Rwandan Franc (I think for the first time) is now stronger than the Naira… In 2 years, food prices have increased by 80% and fuel has quadrupled. How are my Naija people even surviving. The fudge? It begs the question – Giant of Africa, no more?
Let us not speak too soon! As it turns out, and though not everyone is convinced – President Tinubu claims this depreciation is necessary for long term sustainable growth. I am no economist but if I understand it correctly, idea is, allowing the Naira to fall makes Nigeria more attractive for external investors and when Capital enters the country, nation’s economy is boosted. Do you buy it? (Ridiculous side note: Per the streets, man may be ATL Socialite Porsha’s new beau- Which BTW/ We need to stop calling these people “influencers” and rather socialites- Persons famous for socializing/attending parties… For, in my view, they influence neither culture nor society… They do entertain though, I love Trash TV, as the French say, it is “mon péché mignon.”(“Darling sin”)
As for Kevin Gates 60 Day marriage. I kinda sorta love it when this happens. Permits me to sit on my high horse, clutch my pearls and say, as many of you love to say. “Oh Lord. How do people divorce so soon? Nowadays young people love wedding not marriage, there is a difference. One lasts a day, the other a lifetime.” – What KILLS me is the way y’all then insert a pregnant pause and stare. As if expecting applause for what you believe to be deep Confucius wisdom. Dearest Reader- Asking why do people marry and then divorce is like asking why y’all can’t walk in heels but still wear them. Sh*** happens… All I know is, I did last a tad bit longer than Gates… LOL.
