We have heated debates in my family about most everything under the sun. One such theme being, prostitution. We classically have always agreed that no one goes into prostitution by choice. It is a terrible ill caused by poverty. In other words, nobody dreams of becoming a prostitute.
I am unfortunately troubled to note, sexwork is “cute now”. It’s no longer about selling my body to feed my family because I must, it’s selling my body as a side gig to buy a Gucci. OnlyFans is just 1 click away. I could literally wake & charge y’all $9.99 and if 100 people sign up, Id make $1000 in 1 day. Thereafter, depending on how much gymnastics I’m willing to do, I’d make double, triple that, daily. Plus, it’s now basically socially accepted. They are not sex- workers rather “artists”, “entertainers”, ”creators”, etc. So… if we are honest with ourselves, the appeal makes sense. Especially because the alternative is waking, clocking, sitting, thinking, 8hrs everyday for way less money! Sh*** almost signed up…
What they don’t tell us though are the extreme substance abuse and high suicide rates associated with that world. Still, the apparent hypocrisy does not escape me. In that, there would be no OF if no one was consuming it. The supply exists because the demand is high. I cast no judgment on anyone in the supply chain: from distributor to supplier to consumer. Lord knows I have my own crosses to bear. BUT my heart breaks for the young girls & boys, who influenced by quick cash and glam, are making irreversible mistakes they will undoubtedly regret —— for trading with the Devil NEVER ENDS WELL.
May the Immeasurable love of God locate us all…
