Impundu, Impundu!

It is with great humility to the one true God that I am happy to share, I have received the best bday gift as my sister gave birth to our daughter, Claire. Impundu, Impundu (*Rwandan Exclamations*) to my sister & her husband. Nimwonkwe… (*Rwandan Congratulatory Statement that in its literal sense translates to “may you have enough to feed the child”, a wish of prosperity upon the new parents*) I prophesy over you our daughter: “the insurmountable love of God carries you & you rise as a leader among your generation.” Dearest Reader, thank you for Rejoicing with us today for tomorrow, you own miracle awaits.

My family has an unspoken tradition of recycling names. Dad was named after his elder sister Josepha. Then his brother, our uncle, named his daughter Sandra after my Sister Sandrine who named her daughter Genga after dad, Mugenga. My eldest sister Nadège’s first born also takes after our dad: Joel (she added the l for vibes) BTW- her youngest was born within hours of my bday too. I seem to inspire wombs… Also, my cousin the elegant Aurora named her son Leo, after her dad, my uncle Leonard. NOW, our newest baby is named after her grandmother, the graceful Iconic, Claire. You know you’re gonna be a fabulous mom when they named you “Umubyeyi” (loosely translated as Mother of Nations). The journey ahead will not be easy but our prayers accompany you. Baby C, welcome to the World. Can’t wait to teach you how to whistle and fake laugh at jokes that are not funny so the orator is happy.

One Love, One Humanity!
