While gluttony is put on display in “My 600lbs life”, children starve in north Darfur. The fact that famine is not a medieval concept like leprosy quite literally keeps me up at night.
One day, in my early teens, a homeless child knocked on our home in Rwanda. This is an unfortunate common occurence when majority of the population lives below the World Bank extreme poverty line, under $2/day. The little boy asked for food. I was 14 or so, my sisters had moved to America. We showed him where to shower. We gave him clothes. We served him food. I often think of him. I trust the favor of God has located him. Now I am in America, the homelessness crisis continues to plague our cities. Nobody is coming to save us. Get out the stripclub, put the Whiskey down, come and strategize; we got work to do!
