There is a proverb in my country that says “Inshuti musangira akabisi n’agahiye” loosely translated to true friends are those with whom you share cooked and uncooked meals (that life serves you).
Diesha and I met in DC in Law School back in 2017. We’d sit daily in the library after class to revise and complain about our professors. Well at least we did. Diesha neither studied nor complained. She is the type of friend that makes you question your entire existence because, for no reason at all, they grow their own food, do goat yoga, do not eat meat, do not put chemical in hair. You know the type? And of course ace all classes and professors love them so much, they become friends after graduation. (**eyeroll**)
A semblance of jealousy aside, Diesha is one of the kindest humans I know. She travelled to Atlanta for my bridal shower then she travelled, along with her husband, while pregnant to Kigali for my wedding. After which, I travelled to Florida to welcome baby “Sire”. Later; when life served me uncooked meals, we met again in Atlanta and she comforted me. Her immense love, (much like that of the many friends and family members God has blessed me with), is the reason why, I am here a year later, glowing and perturbing suitors.
A thousand times, Thank you.
XOXO
