I have been friends with the Kaseba family for more than a decade and I can tell you, they are one of the most God-fearing families I know. It isn’t that they are holier, it is that – they, in their flawed humanity, approach the throne of God with trembling.
The Father is the Head Pastor at GIG. I went to College with their daughter, Lisette, an angel. The elder brother, Cédric, is like a brother to me. He is the first born so we used to find him cool until he married power house, International Gospel Artist, Deborah Lukalu – who is way cooler than us all combined. Not only is sis a walking legend, she has the humility of Christ. And she WILL take off a wig in the middle of worship if it gets in the way. The younger sisters are like my own baby sisters. They hate to see Lisette and I coming though; I think we overuse big sis privilege and now that Lisette has a baby, we milk it even more… Forgive us- we are but dust…
To the naked eye, we are very different. They are Congelese, I am Rwandan. They are ultra-conservative, I am not. I try to cover up when I see them but my “covering up” is their beach wear… Everyone of age is married and everytime I visit there is a new baby in the family. Me, on the other hand, the more the years pass, the more the supposed role of women in society appears scam-ish to me… BUT, that- ladies & gents- is the exact essence of the Gospel: “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.”
One time for the Kasebas!
